Adam Helenske was born and raised in Fargo ND. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in ceramics in 2009 and moved to Seattle WA with his wife Kayla Helenske while she earned her master's degree in Mental Health Counseling and Art Therapy. In Seattle Adam had the opportunity to work as an Artist in Residence at Pottery Northwest where he continued his pursuit of studio pottery and immersed himself in the community of artists and patrons. In 2012 Adam and Kayla opened Circle of Art Studios in Seattle where they taught community classes and pushed their arts careers forward while growing their family and advocating for the arts within their neighborhood. Adam and Kayla have two children, Madaak and Amarie, with a third baby due in June of 2018.
Family, Community and Art are Adam's passion and he works tirelessly to build a life centered around these ideals while maintaining a career as project manager with Holly & Co Classic Homes with his father, Craig Helenske. Adam's primary goal within his studio practice is to educate his community and create an atmosphere of fun, learning and support for functional pottery. The act of making wares for peoples' homes is important to Adam because or the tactile experiences involved with clay and food. By helping the public to experience handmade pottery and share meals with those around them, Adam hopes to strengthen the bonds within family units and the community at large.
